Jazz Fashion creations are inspired by the Steampunk movement which, is distinguished by the use of elements from the Victorian and Edwardian periods, combined with mechanisms and pieces inspired by the first industrial movements and the invention of the steam powered machines.

Designers Marija and Jos Jillings bring their personal visions in each design, giving as a result accessories of a captivating beauty and romantic touches.

1. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF (PERSONALY AND CREATIVILY).
My name is Marija Jillings. I am an artist. I create unique art jewelry using vintage watch parts.

2. WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL MOTO?
Live well, laugh often, love much.

3. YOUR STORY . . . HOW LONG ARE YOU BEING CREATIVE? IS CREATING? WHAT IS YOUR JOB? ARE YOU SURVIVING JUST WITH YOUR WORK?
I have been creating for 4 years now. My creating is my full time job and is my main income.

4. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST HAND MADE PRODUCT? WHEN?
I created my first piece of jewelry in 2009. I keep it as a reminder of how much I improve every day.

5. WHAT IS INSPIREING YOU WITH YOUR CREATIVE WORK? FROME WHERE ARE YOU GETTING AN IDEAS?
I am inspired by materials shapes and colors I work with. I recycle vintage watches and I never know what treasure I will find inside an old broken watch. I get ideas and inspiration from everyday life.

6. DO YOU MAYBE HAVE YOUR ROLE MODEL? WHO AND WHY?
Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a great painter, sculptor, architect, musician, engineer, inventor, and scientist. Although holding a true gift in the area of art, he also held a strong mind in the area of science and invention. Da Vinci was way before his time.

7. WHERE ARE YOU CREATING YOUR PRODUCTS? HOW YOUR CREATIVE PLACE LOOK LIKE?
I live in a house and I create at home. My work space is not too big, I like to have all the important materials and tools at the reach of my hand.

8. DO YOU WORK AT NIGHT OR DURING THE DAY? BEST PART OF DAY FOR BEEING CREATIVE?
Both. My work day lasts from morning till night.

9. WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR CREATING?
I don’t find any part of my creating hard because I really love and enjoy my work, but if I would have to pick something it would be resin casting. It is not hard but it is very delicate. As a finishing touch on a creation, there is no room for mistakes.
10. WHO ARE YOURS CUSTOMERS? DESCRIBE YOUR TIPICAL CUSTOMER.
My creations are suitable for everyone, genders, all ages and all styles. Our typical client is the client that can`t have only ONE piece of our jewelry.

11. DO YOU WISH YOUR PRODUCT WILL BE USED / WEARING BY SOME FAMOUS PERSON? WHO? AND WHY?
I don’t have a preference when it comes to celebrities. For me the most important thing is that the person that buys my jewelry will appreciate it and will take good care of it.

12. ARE YOU WEARING YOUR PRODUCTS?
I wear my own creations and I like to wear creations from my colleagues as well. My sister that works with me is my number one fan and she has the most of Jazz Fashion jewelry of all.

13. ARE YOU COOPERATING WITH OTHER ARTISTS TOO?
Over the years I collaborated with a lot of my colleagues from Serbia. I enjoy creating together with my colleagues, fusion of great ideas and different techniques. Now I am working on a project with Papa Donum, wire wrapped Steampunk jewelry.

14. ON WHAT ARE YOU PROUD THE MOST AT YOUR ART WORK?
My biggest achievement so far other than being invited to participate numerous exhibitions all over Europe, is being published in a book called » International Steampunk Fashions « with other famous Steampunk artists and Steampunk celebrities from all over the world.

15. YOUR PLANS / VISIONS FOR YOUR ART FUTURE?
My plan is to keep creating, participate at as many exhibitions as I can and make a lot more people happy with Jazz jewelry.

16. THE CRAZIEST ADVENTURE IN YOUR LIFE?
Meeting a guy on the internet and moving to Holland to be with him. Best decision ever!

17. WHAT MEANS ARTISH FOR YOU?
For me Artish means beauty of artistic creations.
